The UEX series ball nose end mill is specially designed for precision machining of mold steel up to HRC60. It is especially suitable for mold cavities, complex curved surfaces, and semi-finishing to finishing applications where surface consistency and tool stability are critical.
With ultra-fine carbide substrate, advanced TIALSIN coating, and optimized anti-vibration geometry, this tool helps achieve stable cutting, smooth contour transitions, and reliable surface finish in mold steel machining.
Compared with square end mills and corner radius end mills, the ball nose geometry is better suited for 3D contour milling, radius transition machining, and cavity finishing where smooth cutting paths and better surface blending are required.
UEX ball nose end mills are manufactured using ultra-fine grain powder carbide with grain size below 0.6 μm, combined with 12% cobalt content.
This material structure provides high hardness while maintaining sufficient toughness, reducing the risk of edge chipping during complex machining paths.
The cutting edges are coated with HiPIMS-applied TIALSIN coating, offering oxidation resistance and thermal stability at temperatures up to 1200°C.
The dense coating structure improves adhesion strength, lowers friction, and enhances resistance to crack propagation under high cutting loads.
UEX ball nose end mills feature a geometry optimized for vibration control and surface consistency:
•Unequal end teeth angle: 88° / 92°
•Variable helix angle: 35° / 37°
•Rake angle: 0° to -5°
This design effectively reduces harmonic vibration during 3D contouring and finishing, resulting in smoother cutting action and improved surface quality on mold steel components.
Typical Industries
•Mold & die manufacturing
•Automotive mold components
•Plastic injection molds
•Die casting molds
•Precision tooling industry
Typical Machining Operations
•3D contour milling
•Mold cavity finishing
•Semi-finishing and finishing
•Complex curved surface machining
UEX ball nose end mills are suitable for materials up to HRC60, including:
•H13 mold steel
•SKD61 tool steel
•CPM powder metallurgy steel
•718H pre-hardened steel
This makes the UEX series a reliable choice for mold shops handling high-hardness and high-value components.
UEX milling tools are produced on German Walter 5-axis CNC grinding machines, ensuring precise geometry, sharp cutting edges, and consistent flute profiles.

Edge honing is performed using automated equipment with rubber diamond abrasive polishing. The honing value is controlled within ±0.003 mm, improving edge strength while maintaining cutting sharpness.
Tool geometry and dimensions are inspected using Walter Helicheck Plus, combined with 150× optical measurement and 300× visual inspection.

Production follows ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certified management systems, ensuring stable quality and process control.
In addition to the main production facility, we operate a manufacturing base in Vietnam.
Authorized distributors in Iran and Turkey provide local support and stable supply for regional markets.
Q1: What materials is the UEX ball nose end mill best suited for?
It is mainly designed for mold steel and difficult-to-machine materials up to HRC60, such as H13, SKD61, CPM steel, and pre-hardened mold steel.
Q2: Is this tool suitable for finishing hardened mold cavities?
Yes. The variable helix design and HiPIMS TIALSIN coating help achieve stable finishing results on complex 3D surfaces.
Q3: Why choose a ball nose end mill for mold cavity finishing?
A ball nose end mill is more suitable for 3D contours, curved surfaces, and cavity profiles, helping improve surface consistency and reduce visible tool marks in finishing operations.
